Chocolate Cream Pie
When I was a young girl, my dad and mom ran a diner. We lived and ate nearly every meal there. That’s where I learned to love the black and white tiled floors of the 1950’s, and I’d sit and spin, until I was dizzy. On the counters were glass domes which covered Danish and Cinnamon Buns from the nearby New York Bakery. There were pastries, donuts, and pies. Chocolate cream was a staple and one of my favorites. Today, there is nothing like good hot cup of coffee and slice of pie. I found our family’s favorite chocolate cream pie in an October magazine in the early 1970’s. I bet you know someone who would love a slice! Don’t be scared; it’s easy to make.

Snow Ghost Chocolate Cream Pie
½ cup of Hershey’s Cocoa
1 ¼ cups of sugar
1/3 cups of cornstarch
¼ tsp. salt
3 cups of 2 % milk
Add 3 T. butter and 1 ½ tsp. of vanilla
1 – 9-inch graham cracker pie crust
Add whipped cream from a can or better yet whip some up!
Mix all the first ingredients into a 3-quart sauce pan over a medium heat. Slowly add the milk and stir constantly until it boils for one minute. Remove pan from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla until it melts. Pour into a crust and chill 3 hours. I cover it with plastic wrap. Top with whipped cream. Enjoy!
