Best Friend Biscuits
Who doesn’t like a cookie? Even my golden retriever knows the difference between store bought and homemade. For years, I’ve made cookies for my children and now all my grandchildren, but it took a pandemic for me to see Molly, our lovable 3-year-old pup, also wanted a special treat and appreciated me for making her a tray full of treats.
I did have a bone shaped biscuit cutter, but when I found this pan ( in the photo) the whole baking day got more fun. All healthy ingredients and they just popped right out of the pan. This is such a great way to share the love of baking with your young bakers in your life. Also, a great way to reinforce some math skills as well.
So why not google a pan online and be ready for the next snow day with the kids and bake for Fido. Recipe from King Arthur Flour folks.

2 cups of whole wheat flour
1 cup of rolled oats
1 T. dried parsley
½ cup nonfat dry milk
½ tsp. salt

- Mix together the flour, oats, parsley, dried milk, and salt.
- Add eggs and peanut butter, stirring to combine; the mixture will be crumbly.
- Add enough water to bring the dough together; depending on the season (winter) you may have to add more water or less (summer).
- Shape according to your pan or biscuit cutter.
- Bake the biscuits for about 40-60 minutes. When finished the biscuits should be brown and baked all the way through.
- Remove and cool on a rack.
Tips from the Bakers
Remember these are just for a treat for your dog and not part of their daily diet. One biscuit is plenty! Woof!
